300,000 headaches Ford would not need to deal with if they stopped offering warranties as of tomorrow on all Ford vehicles produced

Ford recalls nearly 300,000 F-Series trucks over defective fuel pumps

Ford Motor is recalling 295,449 diesel-engine trucks because a defective fuel pump could cause a loss of power, raising the risk of a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Tuesday.

"Biodiesel deposits may form on the pump drivetrain roller components, which could lead to failure of the high pressure fuel pump," the NHTSA stated.

Drivers whose vehicles are affected by the faulty fuel pump may experience "extended crank while starting, a Check Engine Light (CEL), noise and reduced engine power," recall documents show.

As of Tuesday, Ford was not aware of any reports of accidents, injuries or fires linked to the fuel pump problem.

The recall applies to the following truck models:

2020-2022 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600
2021-2022 Ford F-650, F-750
Ford dealers will update the powertrain control module software free of charge, according to the automaker. Notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners of affected vehicles on Jan. 13, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332; Ford's number for this recall is 24S78.

The cost for this will be passed along to Bosch, who make the pump for Ford and other OEMs. Ford will suffer the reputation hit, and will probably end up paying more for the next generation of diesel fuel pump that Bosch is pedaling to fix their design issues.

OP is right.

Build a better car and stand behind the quality.

Or keep sending piles of cr-p off the line like we are today and tell the customer good luck.

The answer is pretty simple to me

I will say it again….. I totally understand if it’s new tech and something doesn’t go right, but fuel pumps and brakes are your specialty not to mention safety items to make the car stop and go… instead of making the cars iPhone on wheels, make better cars lower cost.

You would be better off buying a 20-year-old Hooptie, with big spinners then a new Ford vehicle. If the Hooptie beater is drivable after all these years, it's going to be less risky than buying a new Ford.

My '97 F250 has 300K+ miles on it. I've replaced the water pump, one injector, a freezeplug and rebuilt the tr---y. I happen to like Ford.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was expanded to other years. Why would it only affectthe 2022 model year?

Ford needs to abandon all Ford Dealerships and sell Ford vehicles Where Is As-Is through Auto Auctions

You mo--n, these aren’t warranty recalls, they are safety recalls because the vehicles are not in governmental safety compliance.

Honestly, the OEMs will eventually collude and decrease warranties significantly. Down to a year or even a few months. Eventually, they will be eliminated.

Again with this d-mb s$&t. No one will buy a vehicle which doesn’t have a warranty. Get that through your thick skull already!
