Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Sedgwick

Why does Sam’s use Sedgwick ? For the most part I haven’t had an issue using them, but when having to go to the hospital for an emergency and I was out of it for days , management still expected me to contact Sedgwick to approve my time off . I was hounded until I contacted sedgewick ! I was in the hospital for over a week and had no way to contact them . Finally I am on an LOA because I was able to get with Sedgwick . The hounding and point given was just pure BS. Is there no more compassion in our company that when an associate is hospitalized or has a death in the family that they can give us a break.. I have worked with Sam’s over 25 years and I was so disgusted with the way I was treated while I was in the hospital . I had no way to call Sedgwick for at least 4 days .. granted they took away my points , but the phone calls and texts to remind me to call Sedgwick were ridiculous ! Only 1 text was asking how I was doing. I miss the old days when all we needed was a doctors note , Sedgwick isn’t always prompt with giving us the paperwork we need .

They don't care. We are numbers not people.

They don’t give a fu-k about anyone or anything other than the bottom line.

Using Sedgewick is supposed to eliminate favoritism in the way time away because of illness is handled. Its the same as why investigations into complaints about management through the open door are supposedly carried out by a neutral third party. Yet the local managers are nearly always trusted by home office so they can still abuse you however they wish. Also using Sedgewick lets home office not even have to staff anyone at all to care for the associates. Besides home office has way more important issues to think about. Like how to make each store level associates life as miserable as possible.

Sounds like you're being a little sensitive. I'm sure they weren't hounding you. Maybe instead of coming online to rant, maybe talk to your managers like an adult....

Because it’s cheaper than paying for in club HR who can help you facilitate all that bullsh-t and actually help you and make you feel like someone cares. Corporate greed.
