Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

This might just be the thing that finally pushes me out

I don’t hate my job, but it hasn’t been the same for a while. It’s nothing too drastic to make me want to leave. But this RTO thing? It already has me scrolling through remote job listings. I can’t see myself staying at a company that feels like it’s sliding backward instead of moving forward.

More power to you. Quite-quit but don't sit idle. Learn something on the side. The best thing is if you receive a package and then find another job before the end of package, so you get both the package and the new job. Worst case is if you get neither.

Fulltime RTO will show who will blink first. Unfortunately, it would be us the lowly rank and file folks.

The whole workplace setup they created for hybrid work, won’t fly with everyone in 5x a week. It is AWFUL. No privacy, everyone is loud. I get more work done being at home. I think this is a big mistake on JPMs part.

Quiet quitting is the way. Absolute bare minimum. FRTO, and everyone that supports it.

Are you starting to feel confined? Like a caged animal? I want to be on free range.

Don't be surprised if all companies RTO so be careful not to jump too soon.

If they can terminate for cause, there is no severance and they can fight an unemployment claim as well.

As part of the RTO 5 policy, i suspect they are going to lock down VDI access as well in order to accelerate and enforce the policy for those that might choose to ignore and attempt to continue to WFH.

In the open floor plan settings it is going to be hellish with rows and rows of 8 seats all occupied 5/week.

So, now, after losing the flexibility of 2 WFH days, and having to commute 5/week, you also will despise the office even more because all seats will be occupied, elbow-to-elbow.
It will be the equivalent of flying RT internationally 5/week.

  1. Commute to airport (office)
  2. Check in through turnstiles (TSA)
  3. Wait at the elevator banks (gate boarding)
  4. Find your seat, hope its not a middle seat
  5. Listen and watch all your fellow passengers on your 8-10 hour flight talking, sneezing, coughing, eating, etc.
  6. Experience the bickering, arguing, chaos, and all manner of concentration disruption all day long, with the occasional escalation that will inevitably occur.
  7. Wait for the plane to come to a full stop and open the exit doors.
  8. Wait for an elevator to deplane.
  9. Commute home
  10. Rinse and repeat EVERY MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

Who would have thought work would revert into daily international travel.

How I long for full height cubicles for a minimum amount of privacy.

They cannot fire you if you want to quit. Unless your dept is really well staffed with super duper well trained people. You can virtually do anything you want and get away with it. JPM treats its depts like sweatshops when it comes to allocation of funds, just cause you THINK you will get fired, doesnt mean it will happen - think about it, do you really think they want to pay your Az5 severance or just watch you leave?

Which is exactly what they hope you would do. My recommendation is to aim for quiet quitting. Worst that can happen is they fire you which is the same as you resigning.
