Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

How many people have been laid off in total so far?

Does anyone know how many have been laid off since this big job slashing push started a year+ ago? It seems like around 5-8% of total Cigna employees have been impacted so far, but that’s just a guess based on what I’ve been seeing and hearing from other managers.

Wondering how much deeper the cutting will go.

Internal creative agency is a department in marketing responsible for creating marketing materials like videos, sell sheets, etc. positions affected include video producers, project managers, and writers.

Question about recent layoffs: "internal creative" Is this the Cigna Creative team? The ones who do marketing and create content?

Something about this HCSC/Medicare deal doesn't sit right with me. The closer we get the more we find out we are getting sc--wed. More and more Medicare folks are leaving before we convey over and I am trying my best too.

What areas in IT are you seeing the most problems? Is it more based on the project work?

Do they ever lay off Indians that are here onshore? Feels like a click.

Yeah, the contractors/consultants but that's because of cost, pure and simple. And yes, it generally is very much a clique. Work in IT, and it's obnoxious beyond belief. But in my experience, the ones who are cliquely like that usually are bad at their jobs and rely on the hivemind in the clique to get anything done / prop each other up.

I chose to leave very toxic workplace

What I have seen is a uptick in people voluntarily leaving. The ones who are leaving are some of the best we got. We are losing talent and Cigna seems to be fine with it. This is a tactic layoffs + attrition.

Anyone have any news about upcoming Thursday layoffs?

A lot of people on my team and surrounding teams have just unceremoniously disappeared. I never know until I need something and they're gone. Like the other poster said, I'm sure Cigna massages those numbers by hiring and firing contractors as well as other methods.

Depends on if you count contractors or not. Which officially everyone has to pretend the contractors aren't co-employed by Cigna, and so they don't count them.

Either way, no idea. Most are kept quiet.

They're going to dump as many of us as the can hire overseas for cheaper. Probably more.
