I'm considering applying for a tech/operations job at TR in Toronto. Have there been layoffs in the past year, and were they significant? What's the outlook for 2025?

TR does large layoffs at least once per year. They’re sending all the work away from areas like Toronto to lower cost countries. Tech Operations is definitely at risk. I wouldn’t recommend working at TR for anyone that I like.
When you say decimated, do you mean 10% or more were laid off? How many employees work in the Toronto office? Or was it more like a new CTO coming in and cleaning the house? I'm just curious if this was an off-year of layoffs or has been happening for over a year. Is this the newly (2023) renovated office on Duncan Street, where it's the new product innovation hub that was supposed to create many jobs?
The Toronto tech team is being decimated under the new CTO. Numerous VPs, Directors, Managers, and Lead Engineers have been let go. Promotions are stagnant, and salary increases are minimal. Only consider joining if you're desperate and have no other options.
