Is WD actually hiring? How long does it usually take to get an offer after your final panel round?

Same boat, WD is very unresponsive. I did receive an offer though, counter offered with an email. And it is been a week, didn't hear back lol
understand, many of have been there, so good luck
I hear you but beggars can't be choosers. Not to mention this seems to be an industry wide standard these days - believe me from the amount of final interviews I've had this is nothing new.
take how a company treats a candidate as a sign
Why would I be glad it's on hold?
Rather have a job than be unemployed ngl
@28k+1jh6558ec be glad it's on hold
The HDD side has more steady demand and profit but has a chance be phased out sometime in the future. Reasonably good for the experienced engineers IMO because not many new graduates want to join, but it may not end well for those who start now. The Flash side sees cyclic downturns, hard competitions and a possible merger. Both sides are cost-driven and not known for high compensation.
@dt+1jh6558ec why do you say to reconsider joining this industry?
Unfortunately the recruiter was super unresponsive to my emails and the last thing they told me weeks back was they'd hope to hear back on a decision within the next week.
Found out from another source the role is on hold indefinitely :/
Historically, they stink at telling people no. They were ghosting people before the term became popular. This goes back to HGST and, especially, IBM culture. So, hearing nothing is not a good sign. It’s OK to reach out and ask for a status update on the job.
Are you referring to the tech industry as a whole and it's instability or something specifically with computer storage?
@1ay+1jh6558ec best do careful research before joining this industry
I really appreciate the insight, thank you! That makes a lot more sense why the recruiter is being super vague with a timeline and unresponsive.
On the HDD side, even after hiring reqs are approved through the VP level, once managers want to extend and offer, all offers are being reviewed a second time by a very senior executive. This is adding 1-3 weeks to the process right now.
if you join WD you are "in limbo" until the lay-off like everyone else at WD.

It's for a software dev position but I didn't think it would be over a month and I'd still not get a decision on an offer. The panel interview itself had gone really well so I thought not getting a rejection was a good sign but now it's just like I'm in limbo.
It depends on the position and the person hiring. I have seen processes as short as 3 hours and as long as several months.
Maybe they want to wait for the split
Well considering they're actively posting jobs and actually interviewing people I wanted to know. Is it normal to make candidates wait 3 weeks + to hear back on a decision?
seriously considering this industry, think it through
