BFS techs has no worries. Wire techs and Digital Techs are going to be combined since it is pretty much same job now. The T1s are few and far between so that skill is not in high demand anymore. I was a DT, so I know. The DTs can learn GPON tips from WTs. And WTs learn ASE from DT. What this will do is ensure no DT layoffs. I know a lot of DTs did not like the bumping rules in new contract. But do you really think they would allow rules for STs and OPTs to bump their best techs(DTs) unless they had a plan to work around it? Think about it. So you will have FTs, OPTs in construction and DWT( Digital Wire Techs) and FTs in maintenance. Watch ! Re-org is coming.

How about BFS layoffs in out of region areas of the country? The OOR states seem to be safe, no lay-off activity.
“Bedminster closing in August”
…where is that coming from lol - the building is leased until 2035
Once I was proud to work for this company, now I’m embarrassed to still be here. 2025 goals are practically unattainable with nearly a 25% to 40% YOY increases, so they don’t have to pay you when you fail to meet the minimum. Upper management is acting like Na-i’s and now leading through fear and intimidation, even encouraging bad behavior and asking to turn a blind eye to some legal boundaries. All I see are old school Ivory Tower egos that are running this ship straight into the ground. Save yourself the disappointment of a surplus and start looking for something better now!
BFS?
Dist 9 CWA trying to keep them employed.
Can’t afford to loose the income.
Yeah, I know. You say CWA is trying to save jobs, but it’s really about the lost income.
When will there be layoffs in BFS since they're losing money? There are restrictions in over time, techs required approval to buy necessary materials for installations and constant reorganizing of leadership! Not sure what's happening, but it's not looking too good for BFS, just hanging on by a thread until the ax falls at some point!
We just put together a list.
The BFS train keeps rolling.
I had the ‘24 calendar. There was a layoff “scheduled” each month and the calendar listed the detailed steps leading up to the notification date. The most notable step was the “business” case that needed to be submitted and approved. Having sat there last year and seen layoffs and read about them here the reality is they are much more frequent than once per month as the calendar listed. I really don’t know what the purpose of the calendar was.
Once dust settles from those that cant make the RTO requirements of 5 days for 8 hours. No reason to layoff when headcount goals (bonus achievements at VP level) can be achieved through "natural attrition"
Bedminster closing in August
I have been with the company 20 years and there have been layoffs EVERY year. It never stops.
And folks in sales positions, quota bearing are having quota targets double over 2024… hence.. minimal to no commission… and after a few months of missing targets… sales reps will be placed on PIP and fired.
The stinky winky world of leadership
Let’s be honest - does it ever stop?
I have only been back 3 months & it’s a bigger train wreck than 15 years ago
It’s already started and folks are leaving this month
