Don't worry. When they get statehood they'll be American

Please be assured that Imperial is not sending their best and brightest resources on expat assignment. The ones being sent are mainly those that are intolerable, overwork issues and generally get work done by subordinates. They fit well with the ExxonMobil culture and have a history of being suppliant with their EM global contacts. The sad part is that they do return with a chip on their shoulders much to our chagrin.

Look who is making the decisions. Australians and Brits have a history of pulling their friends along when in roles where they have the ability to influence staffing. Appears Canadians are doing the same. Australian expats are VERY expensive. A Canadian in Houston is also expensive. I’ve never understood why Canadians in The Woodlands need to send their kids to a private school like Cooper. The Woodlands schools are just as good or better than the public schools in Albert or Newfoundland!

@fw+1jhbdxsrn Diverse candidate slates which have been put forward by S&D are getting systematically overruled by certain managers/execs selecting only friends, skewing decision making and competencies at business level

In the Upstream, they are usually willing to go to hard to staff and undesirable places an average American doesn't want to go. If they do well in the assignment, you get rewarded with promotions and then bring along other canadians they know and trust

For the longest time, the Australians and Brits perfected this and they were in key positions all over the Upstream often with very high potentials. It just the Canadians turn.

Imperial is sending Canadians on expat assignments and backfill their roles with BTC (or no backfill at all).
Just following EM mandate.
No future at Imperial if you do not move.

Canadians get sent to US facilities (instead of Spring) only if that facility is going to get sold.......and Canadians will get sent back.
