Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Working remotely is the only reason I haven't left already

I intend to stay here as long as I can still work remotely, and then goodbye GM.
Isn't it disgusting how much the management pretends to care about people, while ignoring the fact that many are still here just because they can work from home?

Sorry to all my ex-Stellantis friends that went to GM for that Nickle raise during pandemic when they were hiring aggressively and promised WFH flexibility. You got burned.

Now Stellantis is the only left with most at home 100%

100% remote work is everywhere.

I don't even complain... just milking this until they fire me for not going in and then I'll just work remotely for somewhere else.

The mindset has shifted for some in the two-three years. Some people can't recall how they sacrificed themselves to the drive, and into the office for years or decades. Those people today, find it appalling to spend even a day in the office, when there was no difference in results spanning 2-3 years.

I'm not there to collaborate, I'm there to do my job, then skate. An open floor plan is most destructive to those that are introverts by nature. I can promise you, moral will fall through the floor by mandating an office showing. It will be the ultimate work hard enough, not to get fired. Can't replace me, since everyone is getting sick, injured, or dying due to their sh*tshots. Or retiring. Can't count on the fence hoppers with near zero skills. Can't count on the overseas counterparts, and while it may have worked in IT, for 50 years it hasn't made a dent in engineering or design. These people can't learn what we know. Anything they learn a fraction of it, they quit and leave for a nickel, and then the training starts new with their replacement.

So, good luck corporations. We're going to eff with you, the same way you effed with us.

Who keeps taunting people for not wanting to come back to the office? I can understand why people don’t want to come back if that’s the type of behavior they have to deal with.
