Has anyone else been told to pause their work and related travel immediately? I am really concerned because this seems very abrupt and similar to “stopping core”. My concern is why my line of work is being abruptly paused and what will happen to my department? I suspect a layoff and/or perhaps a sale. My department is not any part of Core or Project Management.

Well @OP+1jhgzec52 … let me tell you a true story from 1993 … I was leaving on a trip to the field one Monday when my boss caught me at the elevator imploring me that I needed to be back in the office on Wednesday. Guess what happened then? I was layed-off from my position at ANG.
Hopefully they start with this new layer of managers they’ve added over the past year. Pointless and redundant, especially when the senior managers they report to only have 3-4 direct reports.
What is happening this week? Well I’m gong to go to work and:
- spend a lot of time getting my resume together.
- su-k up to my boss to get that last pitch in there for my bonus.
- draw mean cartoons on the bathroom stall walls about Jon.
- do very little work until the end of January as why bother with potential layoffs coming before the end of the month.
Think of it like this, your girlfriend is saying it’s not me it’s you. We should see other people.
