Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Finance

If most orgs have “shadow” finance person on staff, then what’s the point of having an entire org doing the same? Operations reports up chain abt their numbers anyway, so they’d be held accountable still.

“shadow person took ownership one time to get something paid that was long past due. Now they are stuck doing it so that the company and their BU stays running.”

C’mon dude seriously. We’re all family here. We all know about shadow payments for shadow reasons to shadow recipients. The small vendor that shows up out of nowhere, invited by your VP or AVP for a meeting to introduce some lame rebranded version of software to help your project. The enterprise architects know the product su-ks but a contract is signed anyway. Ultimately some unknown work is performed without oversight or insight and then a check gets written, cashed and distributed to you know who. Fu--ing lame. You can’t do that without the shadow guy. Legg was supposed to get control of all vendor contracts. Another rude awaking.

“what the h is a shadow finance person”
The person in your team or org that processing the invoices on your BU’s behalf in CAPS or Ingot, even though that’s not their job. Because apparently that’s not what finance, accounts payable or any of those groups do and that shadow person took ownership one time to get something paid that was long past due. Now they are stuck doing it so that the company and their BU stays running.

I can give little bit insight to shadowing finance guy.
Much of time the little shadow guy pay the invoicing for the vendor so big shadow guy doos not see. Unless or until we vendors send little shadow guy the invoice, we dooes not know how much we like to charge each of times. This can be also good time to do the favor for team supervising supervisor to give the kick in back so he dooes give us more of the work as later time.

You ain’t wrong. Never understood this either. Why am I processing invoices and paying vendors. That’s not my job. I should just be sending finance the invoices and moving on. There are other groups that do similar things.

Because the people in finance found a way to delegate THEIR work.

Same way we have all been doing HR’s job as supervisors.

If I have to inform HR of what the policy is so they can give me their advice what’s the point?

Now with Workday they are just an obstacle to productivity.
