Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Meta is cutting it workforce by 5% and other tech companies are also doing the same...

Is Alvind going to pull the trigger first ? can he provide a firm date the first targets ?

Is IBM going to abandon DEI and ESG in 2025 since Agent Orange arrives next week ?

"Because most people are addicted to Facebook and Twitter/X and the advertisers pay $$$ to inject their salespitches directly into people's brains."

I think they make some money from advertisers but not that much
think about it, they are worth much much much much much much much much more than the companies they point people towards which make actual useful products

you can compare beta, and sh*tt!er to newspapers and tv that advertised as well back a few decades ago, were those businesses that insanely rich
beta, and sh*tt!er sell share price and financial scams

"Hiring should be based on merit, and not immutable characteristics."

it used to be when the US was basically one race
now everyone hires based on their own race except for the white su-kers
that fall for this ridiculous idealistic drivel until they are removed from everything

DEI = Didn’t Earn It.

Hiring should be based on merit, and not immutable characteristics.

How does a so-called business survive if you are paying 80% of your staff ridiculously high salaries but they are not producing anything.

Because most people are addicted to Facebook and Twitter/X and the advertisers pay $$$ to inject their salespitches directly into people's brains.

As a previous hiring manager, ghost job postings are a big issue at IBM. Months of begging, paperwork and endless hurdles only to get a posting that accounting never was going to allow to happen.

"You can probably teach that class on deception/fraud 101 and doesn't need to be at Stanford or Harvard ! "

probably but if you get a certificate from Stanford and Harvard you are welcomed into the "upper" class no matter what you do

"I can't figure out why Meta needs so many employees to start with."

Like Twitter they are not real companies. I don't know how precisely but they
are share price/government scams. I am not a fan of Felon Musk but take Twitter
for example. They were getting ridiculously high salaries. Then Felon Musk comes in
and fires like 80% of them saying they were not necessary. How does a so-called business survive if you are paying 80% of your staff ridiculously high salaries but they are not producing anything.

@dg

You can probably teach that class on deception/fraud 101 and doesn't need to be at Stanford or Harvard ! Run it from LinkedIn and the masses of wannabe fraudsters will show up.

LOL !

I can't figure out why Meta needs so many employees to start with.

Take Facebook. It hasn't really changed in years. It should be running on autopilot.

"Yea, I know of a couple of companies that have had the same jobs posted for a year now. They must really be having trouble finding people."

"
Well the good thing is that exiting employees will be entering a great job market. I know this because this is what I have been told for the last four years, there are jobs aplenty. All sorts of posted jobs these days.
"
there are so many sleazy unethical games being played behind the scenes with this
it's like it is its own discipline - deception/fraud 101
maybe i can take that class at Stanford or Harvard

Let’s hope IBM pulls the plug on those useless initiatives and returns to hiring based on qualifications and merit. Sorry your candidate lost. Next time, don’t let your party bosses circumvent democracy and install a candidate so unqualified that even a felon could beat her.
