It’s frustrating to see AT&T struggling with so many internal issues, and a lot of it can be traced back to a major leadership misstep: putting Lori Lee, someone with zero HR experience, in charge of the company’s Human Resources department.
Lori’s background is in marketing and international operations, not HR. While she might be great at those things, HR is an entirely different ballgame. It requires a deep understanding of employee needs, organizational culture, and workforce development. Instead, we’ve seen mismanaged layoffs, poor communication, and a lack of genuine support for employees. Morale is low, and leadership seems more focused on protecting themselves than on addressing the concerns of their teams.
So, what can AT&T do to fix this? Start by putting someone with actual HR expertise in charge. Bring in a leader who understands the complexities of managing people at a massive company like AT&T. Someone who can rebuild trust, improve communication, and implement policies that make employees feel valued.
This isn’t rocket science, it’s about recognizing that HR is too important to treat as an afterthought. If AT&T wants to solve its internal problems, it needs to start at the top.
