Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

How are people leaving Cigna for better jobs?

Things haven't been so great here at Cigna for some time. With rolling layoffs, RTO mandates, offshoring, Medicare being sold off, and major negative shift in our culture, it's not a great place to work anymore. I remember feeling proud to work here. I have been trying my best to apply and find a better job to leave Cigna as I feel thats what they want us to do. This job market is very tough. I guess I am happy to still have a job despite not being happy with Cigna direction of being overly profit/shareholder driven.

Meanwhile, I see several colleagues leave Cigna for better jobs recently and wonder how are they doing it? Anyone who recently left willing to chime in and give advice?

My advice would be to apply, apply, apply and keep at it. The job market is brutal right now, but there are jobs out there if you're heavily qualified. You'll probably have to take less than what you could have made leaving two years ago - but, if you've been at Cigna for several years, it will still be a pay increase.

I left too and it feels like I am battle harden compared to my colleagues at my new job. They are much more innocent and kind compared to where I came from at Cigna. It's going to take me time to condition myself to a new job where people are genuinely nice and good, almost like the way Cigna used to be back in the day. Feels surreal that organizations still exists where employees are valued and rewarded. My main advice is to shoot for the stars and hope for nothing, therefore you become numb to the many rejections and rewarded when you do find a job. Leaving Cigna was the hardest and best decision I ever made. I miss the old Cigna and still heat broken on what it has become.

I left 7 months ago and it was the best decision I ever made. I now work for a company that does promote work-life balance. They encourage family time. They give back to their employees. They have the best benefit package I’ve ever had in my career and it’s around $200/pay cheaper than Cigna, also with better coverage and deductibles. I negotiated my salary and didn’t take a pay cut. I could not be happier!!!!!

Express Scripts sits under Evernorth, but it isn’t all of evernorth.

Isn’t express scripts now evernorth? Can someone clarify.

Keep in mind that Express Scripts is divided up between PBM and mail order Pharmacy.

And a dozen over things. if those things are still considered Express Scripts post merger, Accredo for example.

Long term though, I think a lot of Express Scripts and Cigna roles will be considered redundant, and only be Evernorth will remain.

Who knows..but me personally I would not apply for a job at Express Scripts. And to be honest, I would say no area is safe at Cigna. They have been laying off for the past 2 years under the radar slowly letting people from different departments go.

Does this mean those in the pbm space at Cigna have a good chance of being laid off? What does it mean for the employees?

REad the news. Everyone hates PBMs. They are trying to regulate them and they are currently accused of inflating the prices of much needed life saving medications and pocketing 7.6 billion dollars. PBMs in the spotlight is why the stock prices tanked over the last few months.

What does this mean?
“ There are a few express scripts jobs but who wants to go to express scripts with PBMs being in the spotlight (as they should be if the accusations are true)”

Are dept that deal w pbm expected to be laid off?

A combination of luck & having talent is how someone I know recently left Cigna for a great job. Sometimes people need a little push to drive them to look for something better. This person was pushed into a new role they didn't want to do, looked elsewhere, and won the job lottery.

There really aren’t a lot of job openings internally especially remote jobs (unless you are overseas) . There are a few express scripts jobs but who wants to go to express scripts with PBMs being in the spotlight (as they should be if the accusations are true)

I think this post is about jobs outside Cigna the company. I look at internal jobs weekly getting the auto list from workday with preferences. I don’t see much. Year ago I recall there being a lot more openings and yea they are basically already filled with who the departments have already chosen. I have applied outside Cigna so many places and get the run around that I’ve given up and am staying on the Cigna roller coaster and seeing what happens with the new year. You can set your LinkedIn profile to say your interested in job at your company. It’s worth a try in the event your supervisor is lying that you’re not interested in moving to a new role internally. I think Cigna is smart to that now and are figuring out so they aren’t loosing talent to bad managers.

What band are these roles in new department? Probably no job postings either, they have all they want hand picked already, probably are not many and high salaries too just like said earlier

I work in the Medicare side and so far I know of three people who recently left within the last 2 months. In my opinion they were talented with lots of years of outside experience, so I imagine it was easier for them to find a good job.

Looking for a job has become so stressful and annoying I’m over it. I’d rather just hold out for a break at Cigna and hope for the best. Hundreds of applications I’m over it. I have enough to pay my bills and get by. People are leaving Cigna tho but it’s weird I never know what happened cause it’s like they just disappear.
