Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

They still manage by fear

I find it interesting that the management here still tries to manage by fear. They see that the employees are no longer afraid to leave UP, the company is left without people who know how to do their job, but mgmt still tries to convince us that nobody here can do better and that we should be happy that we are overworked and paid peanuts.
It doesn't work like that anymore. I hope that they will realize that this type of management no longer works before even more people leave.

A good manager leads by example , not by anger, fear, or intimidation. If we all treated each other the way we want to be treated it would be a better place to work . Sad to see that a manager can be fired for any reason . So this makes them have a lot of mental worries, so they tend to treat us badly.

The young folks have better options now, which is why they leave. Working at UP isn’t the golden ticket that it once was.

Working at UP is a toxic s***ho-e. Then management wonders why the new hires don’t stick around. Shows you how out of touch management is at UP. This isn’t the railroad that it once was. The smart ones leave.

You can hope that they'll realize the fear tactic isn't working all you want. It worked for a short while until folks stopped giving a damn. People just don't care anymore. Anyone that's still at the UP hellhole endured some 3+ years of constant PSR BS. Now people are leaving, including new hires because even they're not willing to put up with it. The executives were warned very clearly this would happen at the beginning. I suppose when you make millions of dollars, you're free to think whatever you want. The boneheads were happy with the thought that everyone could be replaced, and people would be clawing their way in when they were needed. Yeah and to the other bonehead that made the political reference, please explain how the massive layoffs due PSR has ANYTHING to do with the current political scene. The current situation all started when Fritzy became the CEO, which was 7.5 years ago. I don't care what happens to the UP. If people want the UP to be different, then the changes need to start at the top.
