Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

LAYOFF

I just found that I would be layed off. What a week :(

Does anyone know whether the vacation days will be pro-rated and how can I calculate this? Would I get compensated for sick days and personal days? Presently, I am taking a degree program through the company, would I have to refund the money back to the company? I am a bit confused with money in my MRA and Health Account. Would I lose them?

Apart from looking for another job outside of the firm, what other advice would you give?

"If you're selling stuff off craigslist after working at the top bank in the US, maybe, just maybe the Banking Industry was a bad career choice. How the he-l do you not have savings, wtf did you do with your money."

You are right. The prices of houses, tuition, food are wicked cheap today compared to a decade or 2 ago. I think I saw somewhere that 93% of the stock market is owned by 10% of the population. Are you in that decile?

To the numskull above who taught getting a degree meant my day to day job was suffering. What makes you think I was not performing in my current role? People get layed off for several reasons. Just you know, I have been a top performer since I joined the bank 5years ago and been promoted as well. I sincerely wish you the best and hope you don't have to deal with this in the future

@d3+1jjc5pqqy You probably didn’t know but Americans aren’t very good at saving money. They live pay check to pay check to impress people they don’t even like or buy things that they don’t need, instead of saving and investing.

You're taking a degree program and you're being layoff'd? lol, looks like you should have learned your job first before telling management you want to do more with your career. Quite a stupid thing to do if your job is "fast-paced" and requires you to LEARN it first.

When you are laid off, every dollar starts to matter. I remember selling things on craigslist for $10.

Sorry to hear, what geo area if you dont mind me asking?

Been laid off a few times. Just start getting your rez out there. Dont be afraid of contract roles either they can really help bridge the gap. You will no lose your MRA funds nor any accrued vacation as that would be paid out to you at the time of seperation. I would take as many sick days between now and then as you can to do whatever since you dont get those back.
