Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Displacement Notification

Some have written that they are going to be displaced in 2Q (assuming for non-core location strategy). Does this mean managers have already notified people?

Looks like the first half of 2025 is going to be a series of mass layoffs. S never changes. It's weird when I meet employees that are blissfully unaware that the domestic work force is being eliminated. In a decade we'll probably be 90% I&P. We've already got rid of 100k Americans. 10-12k every year. Year after year. Think retail or mortgage will be around in 10 years? Probably not. We're all on borrowed time. Thankfully I'm close to retirement so I'll wait for the inevitable severance, where Shart can pay me to leave. It's sad to watch the slow moving end of this company.

I know of someone in Atlanta given notice late last year. Not sure why several other smaller non-Hubs are still operational.

I have also received the unofficial "here is what I have found out both directly and indirectly" by my leadership, applicable ONLY to my LOB/Tower. March and May, one for location strategy and one for efficiency. Which is which, I don't remember and it doesn't really matter because affected people are co-mingled in each round. And nothing concrete like X% or # FTE's or SiteGobbiltyGook were passed along if known. That info may be known but it was left vague on purpose to retain a semblance of them attempting to be good stewards of the information. I believe my source would have revealed if I was impacted to prepare me but you never know.

What was the Sacramento notice/timeline/LOB?

FWIW I was pre-notified Q2 2024 about being targeted in Q3 and they let others go instead of me.

YMMV

I was notified by my manager yesterday as a ‘pre-notification’ prior to written notification coming from HR this week regarding the next wave of core location strategy layoffs. I belong to a business unit (CSBB) that is offering the small kindness of allowing folks the option to relocate and keep their jobs (at least for now) so I have 30 days to decide. Move and keep my job or take a package. If I choose not to move to a core location, my package will begin in March. That’s what one gets for 18 years of service these days.

you received a heads up about Sacramento? All of risk did when the head of risk said we were exiting Sacramento by the end of this year.

I was told by my manager as off the record, but as someone else noted nothing from HR yet. I don’t expect that until the day of.

Some managers are willing to go "off the record" with a heads up of what they know even if it's vague and other managers have no clue. It's all about who you know and who trusts you enough to tell you. I know first hand 😔

There are a lot of people who lie out their a-s on here just to make people fearful. Don't put too much stock into anything the handful of cranks who post here say.

Unofficially I'm aware of layoffs coming in the next few months. Officially, HR hasn't reached out to me yet. I'm guessing we're a few weeks out until formal communications to displacement managers start.
