"...and when you have no expertise in that world, you are bound to fail."
OR you can try to convince everyone from silicone valley that you are transforming into a software company and pay very high salaries to watch SW engineers clash with your 120 old business model.
Us being in the subscription and data selling business makes about as much sense as Burger King being in the clothing business or Boeing being in the agriculture business. We know (or used to know) manufacturing. That is where our bread and butter is and that is where we should concentrate our energies. Otherwise its just participating in some arena purely for the sake of seeking profits. and when you have no expertise in that world, you are bound to fail.
Ford's data stores are a key part to developing the future subscription services and suites that customers want. Removing resources to grow our data is the wrong move.
Oh no! What are we going to do without the brilliant "data scientists"? Those people are so much smarter than us. Well, thats what they think anyway.
GDIA's philosophy was always "baffle them with B.S. and they will never know what we are really doing, which is nothing useful". I say its great news.
Many (10+) were let go from EDP in NA. Bigger numbers from AP team.
Not bloodbath, but a few people let go.
Bloodbath
Contract not renewed is what I heard. Not sure that would constitute need for announcement.
