This Lars B person that wrote the article about consultants ruining Nike and posted on LinkedIn. He’s half right, but only blames Bain. He totally forgot the hundreds of millions that Accenture su-ked out of Nike. The VP’s responsible are still here too…

Consultants get hired into strategy and then placed into roles they want to go into to build their resumes. Countless meetings and zero decisions made. Adding to the current state of the company. Rehiring former leaders to clean up the mess and attempt to get the company back on track.
McKinsey is the vampire that su-ked the culture completely dry out of Nike. They are as much to blame for the downfall as anyone.
"No one ever got fired for hiring McKinsey"
Don’t forget about all the McKinsey know-it-alls that have been in and out and hired over the years.
Yes-men and yes-women ruined Nike.
“GT needs to be a service org and only that.” say it louder. Sick of these empire builders who actively get in the way of progress.
Leave GT out of this.
We hire consultants because there's no accountability for any team to know how to do their own core job.
It's a situation that the business side is crawling out. But the global tech org. If you can't manage, plan, code, implement anything then you won't be managed to be better or even managed out. Your VP or Sr Director will hire a consultant who's able to figure it out (Accenture) while slowing taking over the position.
This is short term strategy because of the reorg nonsense has helped everyone to understand they will be reorged before they are made accountable.
GT needs to be a service org and only that. The leadership does not lead anything but dollars out the door and brain drain.
I've never seen any acknowledgment of failure here. Must mean we're succeeding, right? Just like sports you'll never improve if you're already the goat. Let's get hungry again and dig out of this hole.
"Campus is crawling with consultants again…"
It's like you accidentally left a few crumbs of food out over night,
and insects are all over it come morning.
Campus is crawling with consultants again…
I’m amazed at what they get away with. I used to have to approve their invoices and if I questioned anything I would get told by the vp “just approve it”
Accenture
I am not sure that I would use the word consultant with these folks.
They are more like majority shareholder lackeys.
If you have to depend on them, you hired poorly and already are sc--wed.
