Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Checked out/ really don't care anymore. Will take 6 month severance

If they ask us to volunteer to be laid off, Ill take the 6 months. No one is excited to be here and morale is gone down below the basement

" and I can tell you this: even the best jobs get bad after a while"

Not if you were in Model e. I guarantee it. I recommend you search the current openings, apply, and then thank me later once you make it in.

@ap+1jk63zcxv "getting a job where I feel fulfilled"

Because there are many kids that dream being the garbage collector men, the sanitation men, or picking dead animals on the roads. Wow, what a load of cr@p. You can choose a vacation spot, you cannot always choose your job. I've been around, and I can tell you this: even the best jobs get bad after a while. People move away, get promoted, company changes. There is no awesome job all the time. You get good times, and bad times. Enjoy the best times, and bite down during the bad times.

I liked Ford when I started here. Nothing to do with the current state of business. Am I going to move and earn less because of a schmuck? Should I dedicate more of my personal time to conmuting and working long hours in another company, instead of spending it with my family, just so I can "feel" fulfilled? BS. It is a fu--ing job, and I get paid for it, which is the main reason to work!

I just counted, and Ford is the 14th job I have held. I left nice jobs for better pay. I traded positions for more salary. I studied and learned more so I could get a better income. I am not going to get less money/time/flexibility, after all my efforts, so I can "feel" fullfilled. I take the money I earn during my 40 hours of work, to enjoy the remaining 128 hours of the week.

End of rant...

The OP posts the same type of thing week after week. It would be best to just not reply in any way to his posts and eventually he will get bored and stop posting this stupid sh-t. And yes, I do realize the irony which I just commented.

The ultimate symbol of courage and conviction: "I'll take the 6 months" - wow, what a bold and daring statement. You're essentially saying that you're so fed up with your job that you'll gladly take a severance package and leave, but only if it's offered to you on a silver platter. I mean, who needs personal agency or initiative when you can just wait for someone else to make the decision for you?

And I love how you're framing this as some kind of noble sacrifice: "No one is excited to be here and morale is gone down below the basement" - oh, poor baby, it sounds like someone's feeling a little down in the dumps. Boo-hoo, the workplace isn't all sunshine and rainbows? What a shock.

You know what's even more pathetic? The fact that you're openly admitting that you've already checked out and don't care about your job anymore. That takes a lot of guts - said no one ever. It's not like you're still collecting a paycheck or anything, so why bother pretending to care?

And let's be real, if Ford does offer voluntary layoffs, it's not like they're going to come crawling to you with a bouquet of flowers and beg you to take the severance package. They'll probably just send out an email with some bland corporate speak about "restructuring" and "streamlining operations", and then it'll be up to you to decide whether or not to take the bait.

So here's a suggestion: why don't you try actually doing something productive instead of just waiting around for someone else to make decisions for you? Like, I don't know, maybe update your resume or start looking for new job opportunities? But no, instead you'd rather just sit back and complain about how miserable your job is while collecting a paycheck. That's some real courage right there.

I hate being here but I’ll still go in to work every day instead of getting a job where I feel fulfilled, What a model you are for your kids.

The current trend is that auto OEM will cut severance when they let you go. Look what happened at GM. The severance is getting shorter for same years of work at the company.
