Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Social work at Landmark

Since social work metrics are still being evaluated and will be aligned to clinical model changes. Does anyone feel like social workers will be eliminated?

I would not be surprised if they lay off social workers and hire CHW’s. Apparently Medicare can now bill for that position as of January 2024. Sorry you got laid off. Are you in New York? We heard a SW was laid off in that market.

I am a social worker and I was laid off with my last day being the 6th. There were four social workers left in my market and I didn’t have seniority even though my panel was the highest one. My job search is coming up empty handed for remote care management jobs and I am seeing more companies are hiring CHW’s. They can pay them less and they have been moving the social workers to a behavioral health role.

That spells lay off to me.

I wouldn’t worry about metrics, alignment, reorganization, etc. I would just pay attention to what they have been doing for the past year. Expect more of that.
