Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Rumor mill when your WRF'd client put on your PC

Someone in the rumor mill group said they were told a client was added to your PC if you're WFR'd, to ensure when leaving you didn't take any confidential info or copy anything.

Not sure if it's turn or not, but good to know.

I was told to not delete any files when they fired me, or it would adversely affect my severance (redundancy) package. Got the full payout in the end.

"Just take pictures of the screen with SFDC open, with your telephone haha they won't know if you do that unless you're in the office"

Little did you know, that unless you had your laptop camera covered, they were taking a picture of you taking a picture...hahaha

That won't help. All data is triple backed up in different clouds.

That’s correct. Anytime someone is leaving they do track to ensure you do not take Dell documents or information.

You’re not allowed to transfer data to external HD, or upload to google drive or any cloud. It’s constantly monitored and if you transfer any file the IT department will immediately send a notification to your manager and schedule a call for investigation where you will be given a chance to explain and justify your actions. Regardless of if you’re WFR’d or still in the job it can lead to disciplinary action most likely leading to termination

USB transfers and emails are 100% flagged up. As long as you are only taking personal files you should be fine. Take sensitive data, then it could impact your severance payment. Tread carefully!

I had a situation that shortly before I was WFR, I got a call from security that I was flagged for a large removal of data from my system. Got it cleared up eventually after the WFR notice because I luckily recalled when I went in for a re image a couple of weeks prior, the dip$#!+ in local IT used a USB stick to temporarily offload my files. But was a little concerned because I had a good chunk of severance $ that could have been denied.

It's already installed from day 1 of employment.
But yes once notified of WFR any attempt to remove information from PC will very quickly be met with a security warning from IT operations ... ask me how I know :)
