Thread regarding Mutual of America Life layoffs

Glassdoor Reviews Part Deux

Many of us hope that the CHRO, CEO, and Board take a serious look at what employees and retirees are saying about Mutual of America. The CHRO is responsible for setting the tone for company culture and it is very evident many employees are not happy. Why are they not happy ? Because there have been two grinch attacks firing close to 250 hard working people over the past two years. Instead of doing the layoffs the humane way like TIAA did with me a few years ago, they fired my wife who worked at Mutual for over 15 years Right Before F-$-ucking XMAS. Next time, do the early buyout route. The carrot route can be as effective as the stick approach. I hope the CHRO and her team read this and take note. Thank you and Good Night Now

The CHRO is not responsible for the layoffs. She is told what do from her superiors just as it has been for last 30 years in Mutual of America.

These layoffs are a result of poor leadership way before she was hired.

The people in these positions (CHRO) are there because they will follow whatever the top people in the company want without any resistance. They are highly paid to do just that, that is why the executives never leave and will back their superiors to the hilt.

There is almost a caste in MOA whereas some are treated better than others.

Does anyone ever stop to think the CHRO isn’t planning this alone? The company is having financial issues due to prior leadership and the current leadership is doing their best to save what they can. That comes with tough decisions. Every other company has had to face these. The package these folks who were laid off were offered was generous. I am sorry about your wife but this isn’t on the CHRO. If you are looking to place blame look at the former CFO and the former CEO.
