Thread regarding IBM layoffs

I hope when IBM does and goes bankrupt...

... it could release the whole source code of OS/2!

RIP IBM.

PS: I know M$ wrote some of the code, but it's still IBM's call. Besides, we already have access to Windows source code! (wink)

Os/2 was written by IBM and not Microsoft. The only thing os/2 did for Microsoft was give the source code for multiple process threading and windowing.

OS/2 passed on to other owners over the years, using the name "eComStation". It is very outdated at this point, but commercial support may be available to select customers from the new owners. (It was used a lot for ATMs and POS devices.)

Personally, I doubt that anyone at IBM still has access to the source code. Even if they did, they probably wouldn't know what to do with it. OS/2 was a product of a very different era, and those who developed it are long gone.
