Interesting... so the ELT moved to Santana Row into Gary's space and then kicked him out. I don't think Gary was even in the running for CEO.
Actually considering the politics around it, I think it will be Centoni.

Like everyone from rank and file up through the executives at many startups Cisco acquired. People who are used to creating new things are rarely satisfied by bug fixing everyone else's mistakes and once they can cash out they go to where they can create again. The same thing happens in months for every newly minted PhD Cisco hired and dumped into a floundering group doing nothing relevant to their degree and experience. Cisco has destroyed a lot of people who stayed too long.

Nothing surprises me at Cisco when it comes to turnover. Either GS didn't want to be second in line to the throne or he was asked to leave (like MM).
CR sent an internal email announcing Gary's departure.
Where is this news on Gary? Don't see it anywhere. Did they mention it on the call?
Also it became obvious he wasn’t that great so it wasn’t all his choice.
This is not a surprise and speaks volumes. He has been in the role less than 10 months. He knows what direction this company is headed and the bean counters can only hide the truth for so long.
