Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Mid Market is Trash

This is absolutely unacceptable. JVB and the rest of that out-of-touch leadership team need to step down immediately. That entire organization is a disaster—its culture is toxic, and employees are nothing more than lifeless drones just going through the motions.

My nephew, a recent college graduate, was set to start in the B2B program when, out of nowhere, he got a call informing him that his salary was being changed. How is that even legal? Once a candidate accepts an offer, their compensation should be locked in—anything else is outright unethical.

And let’s talk about Chris Merchant, the so-called program director. The guy is a complete joke—an HR nightmare waiting to happen. How he hasn’t been hit with a complaint yet is beyond me. He’s got the classic little-man complex, running his team like a dictator. I believe he’s been surplus a few times, and this is yet another example of AT&T recycling problems instead of solving them, creating a toxic work environment.

It gets worse—there are claims that he once screamed at an employee and even threw something at them. And what happened? Brian Gotherman, another absolute joke, swept it under the rug. How is this tolerated? Both of them should be FIRED immediately. This kind of leadership is exactly why this company is in the state it’s in.

AT&T B2B was the biggest mess and the trashiest work environment. No slack was given to people to build their sales funnels, they were just expected to perform within the first month or two. There’s nothing stopping people from buying online and saving $150 because they waive it. Customer service can also take your sales alongside any other AT&T sales rep. A pi-s off of a program and it ki-ls your motivation as a fresh college grad.
The base salary was enough to survive until they cut it by $10k and upped quotas. If you’re supporting this, you’re a part of the toxic workforce culture.

OP is 100% correct anyone disagreeing with the above is either under merchant or merchant himself. I’ve never seen a level of dysfunction at a company like this. Leaving college grads out to drown in a “development” program the only motivation is fear. It gets even worse if they successfully graduate the program. Lack of communication about relocation to a 22 y/o with no money entire living situation is at a whim with one 1K taxed relocation check. Open secrets about sales manager dysfunction including drinking at work and not being addressed. absolutely putrid place that incessantly pushes out anyone with real talent or potential.

Why do people bring up the increase in at risk like reps couldn’t already get paid up to 500%? The opportunity to make 15k more was already there you inbreds.

Considering MAYBE 10% of mid market hit 100% or more, it’s a slap in the face.

Obviously the OP is unfamiliar with the premise of the B2B program and hasn't worked with any of the individuals they mentioned, especially considering the misspellings. Typical poster stirring up unnecessary drama. Would love to know what "perfect" part of T the OP is part of.
