Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Modernizing DT offices

Chevron is modernizing the DT offices into full open floor, which nobody asked for and it’s a nightmare to work in due to everyone taking calls next to each other while they do massive layoffs. Makes you wonder where true priorities are, apparently trying to look cool is one.

Laughs in trade floor

C'mon people, it's all perspective. Try sitting on the trade floor for the past 10 years which for all intents and purposes resembles a bingo hall folding table layout.

CRE says we asked for this and no one has complained. Must be true. SMH

Chevron tried open floor plan when we moved into the first Enron tower a couple decades ago. It was an utter failure and had to be abandoned. Doesn't work for us. The offices returned in due course and at huge cost as they decided to pack as few people on a floor as possible with countless meeting rooms and open spaces. Maybe a compromise is needed.

Open plan works well. The only folks strongly opposed are those that don't want the rest of team seeing what's on their screen because they're either not doing much work or working on their side hustle.

Just following Exxons lead. They have a neighborhood approach as they call it. Got a lot of people to retire by making the change. No assigned seating and you have to bring your things to the office every day in a backpack. Only VP and above have offices. Everyone else is in the neighborhood

How come the rest of the o&g industry has already made this change and we are so precious we can’t get over the reality that this is how a modern office works. Maybe we would even like it if we gave it a chance. Get over it folks there’s bigger battles to fight…

Yeah some people in the office are yelling in their mics for some reason like they’re the only ones in the room. Then there’s the lousy new hires who chat about anything but work. Highly recommend noise canceling headphones

It su-ks but I'll take it and make it work over getting laid off.

It’s the worst and only workspace architects think people like it.

It’s in preparation to lease out an entire tower if I had to guess. They’re too ugly to lease right now

It is so bad! I’ve been on an open floor for two years now and loud coworkers making calls and people chatting all the time make it hard to focus.

It’s actually a great concept and a good working environment. Give it a try. It’s really not bad.
