Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

Should I bring up being on the layoff list?

Telling my boss I wouldn’t mind being on the next layoff list seems risky. It’s not like I could get fired without cause, but could I make things worse for myself in other ways by saying this?

It would be ridiculous except a lot of people have lost their jobs. This site exists for the purpose of sharing both speculative and confirmed news about layoffs. Understandably, when people discuss past, current, or potential layoffs, conversations will include theories on what or who contributed to the circumstances. The reason these threads continue is because inept leadership continues to lack the ability to simply execute and implement a decision made long ago.

I did it so I can speak from experience. Using hope and prayer is not a wise course of action, as some suggested, is unlikely to achieve a beneficial outcome for you.

Crown Castle offers a generous severance package (compared to similar companies). It's beneficial for you to have a severance and involuntary separation from your employer than to be surprised by a layoff.

Prepare now. Reduce discretionary spending, increase savings, think about where and what you want to do after CCI, and start getting ready now.

Those that returned did it to get there vested funds back. There was a spot in the contract that if you returned the vesting funds lost in the 401k would be returned like you never left. Then you wait the 6 months and jump. It's a money game.

Pray and hope the voluntary severance option is offered for next layoff just around the corner. Then you can leave with benefits. If you volunteer without the voluntary severance option on table you can possibly be terminated before the next layoff even comes!

@bg+1jma1jjpz — I know a few from RIF years ago who came back to Crown but most left after getting other jobs. Who would really want to come back here to work at this UNSTABLE a** company?

I’m wondering if any of the persons impacted in the earlier RIFs has returned to the fold? May be asking for trouble but it may be the only alternative given today’s job market? Have you been treated fairly?

Hold your cards close to the chest. If you say that, your work will be under a microscope as they're going to assume you're productivity will be down if you want to be laid off. Like the previous poster said, they'll make your life a living he-l in hopes you'll quit because it's less costly for the company that way.

Be careful with this. I know someone who told their boss that if there was another voluntary layoff they would go. Their boss made their life a living he-l until they were forced to quit.
