Thread regarding United States Layoffs layoffs

Federal government layoffs

Most of these are wrongful terminations in my opinion. Is anybody suing yet?

I'm in IT in the private sector and there are layoffs multiple times a year, without warning (ie Dell, Cisco). Sorry, but holding a Fed job shouldn't guarantee you a job for life. There are hurtful layoffs in every workplace. If you have good viable job skills, you should focus on what's next. Good luck

I've been laid off at least three times in my working career, not counting contracts being ended unexpectedly. It's not pleasant, but the first time I experienced it, I vowed that the next time I would be more prepared, both financially and mentally. Layoffs happen, most often due to market forces in various market segments, and not because of anything an employee could, or could not, have done. If you don't financially prepare to be suddenly without a steady income, that's on you. If you don't mentally prepare to be suddenly put out of a familiar work environment, or to be in the position of seeking new employment, that's on you.

For reliable info on positions cut, go to fedweek.com or govexec.com. Don't take the word of any media outlet (that's all politicized propaganda, by design).

As of right now, only a few thousand positions (out of 2 million) have been cut. All were people on their probationary period of one year and from relatively insignificant agencies.
