more than 120 people were lost! Operations are today!
One year from actual retirement and Apache decides to give me a full year severance and retirement insurance.
Not sure how that really adds up to savings for Apache but I’m not complaining.
I slept like a baby last night.
From the looks of it this was mostly a lot of long- term employees let go. If you have been at Apache over 15 years you were on the chopping block.
A LOT of knowledge and experience was let go.
Praying for everyone weather laid off, or left behind its going to be rough. I think this is just the beginning. Unfortunately, Apache is not the only O&G with layoffs (Chevron had a big one last week), and this has become too often too routine for this entire industry.
My heart goes out to all the brilliant and dedicated folks that have been impacted by this and the others to follow. Apache used to be a great company and a lot of us probably stuck around naively longer than they deserved us. It’s been a spiral of textbook bad decision making since AH.
How good are the severance packages?

Lots of good people were let go today. Meanwhile the rest of us have to cover their work— not management.

Strategic planning? What’s that? Doesn’t look like we know what we’re doing from one week to the next, any other majors have robust planning and deliverables. Let’s keep paying those at the top grossly inflated packages whilst the rest suffer, good luck
If this layoff routine and business plan keeps going on for much longer, all that will remain will be a few extremely overpaid executives with no employees or assets left to oversee.
Over 115 people so far and that's just by 3pm.
We still have at least 4 days more of this.
That’s what’s infuriating.
The people being let go aren’t (by and large) responsible for strategic planning. They’re just doing their assigned task.
I left Apache and O&G all together because of this. I now consider the industry something for someone else to do.
Pretty bad today. Unfortunately the people who need let go are still roaming the hallways.
IT, marketing, BD, HSE, engineering were affected… sad day.
