Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Don’t expect advancement

It’s a harsh fact that has been posted here many times. Don’t come here if you expect career advancement unless you fit the mold. This is not a meritocracy. If you stay here too long you end up becoming a worker bee with no real skills that translate to employment anywhere. It’s a pay check, you have no control over your career, and will be subjected to the annual culling. Not a place for a long term career.

I enjoy my job in Bengaluru, with my package I am upper middle class and being groomed nicely for a job at Chevron for 20% more, it just does not get better than this! Too bad your American packages no longer keep up with inflation, but you must admit, with your arrogance, you did it to yourselves 🤡. Your jobs will soon become ours 🤣😂🤑

My college professor years ago said quite honestly, XOM culture is one of the most corrupt in the world. While many individuals may not start this way, the system in place pushes them into this direction.

Responsibilities are being pushed down by two or three CL-groups since 2020. More work for less pay is our 21st Century business model.

It’s the opposite of a meritocracy. If you are hard working, you will be given more work. If you are smart and capable, you are a threat to your boss and will be blocked from high profile assignments where your work might be recognized.

There may have been some rationale for good people to accept this for the pay and benefits in the past, but today the odds of a HC10 worker bee making it to retirement are slim to none.
