Well since you asked, this Pioneer person is doing just fine, but I'm constantly surprised at how far behind XOM was in so many ways. Makes me wonder if it's uber hard to improve things. Guess we find out!
Exxon has so much opportunity for DOGE. You could cut half the company and gain efficiency.
There were certainly a lot of entitled managers that were paid to literally do nothing. Exxon also seems to have that in spades, so..
Kinda glad that this place is not as much into DEI and not as much into the entitled employees. PXD was way into the entitled employee.
I'm now spending most of my time being in bureaucratic meetings getting bogged down in the minutiae and filling out an endless supply of pointless forms, rather than spending my time innovating and building like I did at PXD. So most days I leave feeling like I haven't actually accomplished anything of substance. But at the end of day I get a good paycheck so whatever I guess.
Layoffs will continue until December 2027.
Was told about the lack of insurance in January for 2 weeks or something like that. So that’s a great start. Carrying around 2 laptops cuz CX has to get that pds check box. Power struggles with Xom personnel. Integration team seems to have done a c- effort.
I am embarrassed to be a part of this company to be totally honest.
Exxon Mobil laying off nearly 400 Texas workers after Pioneer Natural merger
Exxon Mobil is laying off nearly 400 employees in Texas after a recent merger with fellow oil and gas company Pioneer Natural.
The Texas Workforce Commission, a state agency that oversees workforce development services, made the announcement in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification or WARN notice.
WARN notices are issued when mass layoffs are announced, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
According to the notice, 397 employees at five different locations in Big Lake, Irving and Midland, Texas will be impacted. Layoffs will take place over the next two years between Dec. 31 and May 2026.
The biggest impact will be at a store located on Hidden Ridge in Irving, about 16 miles northwest of Dallas.
When asked about the layoffs, Exxon Mobil said in a statement to USA TODAY Friday that impacted employees were offered “transition roles” and some turned the offers down.
“Our employment strategy has not changed,” the company said in the statement. “The success of this merger depends heavily on the retention of Pioneer’s talented workforce, and more than 1,900 Pioneer employees were offered jobs as part of the merger.”

We expect to be assimilated in 2026. We were asked to sign the following non-disclosure agreement prior to joining ExxonMobil.
WATBYWBA non-disclosure agreement which stands for "We are the Borg, You Will Be Assimilated"
ExxonMobil is a really great company, couldn’t be happier. Looking forward to ranking session, sounds a great process.
DW seems a really good person, clearly he puts employees before profits
