They don’t want the most competent, they want the most compliant

They just want the absolute sheep who willingly take every lash and smile along the way. The ones who claim to love RTO even if they can’t produce any measurable benefits or results. RTO is the death mark on any company and the #1 sign of financial duress. Everyone hates RTO, and that’s because it’s meant for you to hate it. It’s a layoff in disguise.

OP, I agree with you. Funny thing is, some of us got raving end of the year reviews prior to this new and improved attendance reporting. It will be interesting to see how the ranks change going forward.

As an employee you should be compliant with your employers reasonable demands.
Hard to believe that is being implied as a character flaw. If you are not around, unreliable or defiant and insubordinate why would an employer want to keep you? Can you say across the board that the compliant employees are only the incompetent ones? I doubt it.
