You apparently missed the part where he indicated it was already after 10am, and the guy didn't show back up until after 1:30pm.
As someone who does this… they’re probably at the gym downstairs. I arrive 530, workout till 645. Shower and get dressed and try to be to my desk by 8am.
There are a lot of us who want to have parking spaces and seats but meetings don’t start til 9am et or later.
One "dik" move deserves another!
He got back to his desk at 1:30CST, about 7.5 hours after arriving. I turned his computer off about 4 hours earlier so they would not get the LAN/WiFi credit. He won't know if it the reboot was system generated or what, and he will not know how many hours he is short until 2 weeks from now. I figured this was the best, passive aggressive way to sc--w with him.
You missed your opportunity to load up the backpack with wet TP. Please be smarter for the next time. #movefast

T Leadership caused this issue. They need to fix it by showing a minimal level of respect for their workforce and provide assigned workspace for 8 x 5 RTO

We are ALL going to play the game with the same rules.
Plus it’s a win /win. The employees not getting with the program can get gone and the company can stay busy enforcing THEIR policies.
The more people who aren’t playing by the rules get fired, the less of us who are playing by the rules get laid off.

Privacy and asset protection training had a similar scenario. You’re supposed to report them. An unsecured laptop on a desk is a violation.
This isn’t a resort in Mexico, you can just throw your towel down at the pool seating in the morning and hold a seat all day.
In a post 9/11 environment all “unattended bags” should be reported.

Easy to find who it is. Look up the asset # on the laptop lid.
Per Asset Protection Policy ALL laptops should be secured with cable locks at each desk.
Especially if left unattended in an open work environment.

Smart way to reserve your space
Call building services. Go through the backpack to get identifying information for the employee and report him or her.

unplug it and put backpack and computer down the beginning of the row of cubes. Or right outside cube. It's this stuff that when we have to play Hunger Games just to get a seat I despise.
That dude who reserved the spot is working his side gig now selling real estate. He drives shiny new expensive suv and will be back in the afternoon. He laughs at you because 5x8 is a joke.
Someone obviously wants to receive their credit for time in office while not being in the office.
