Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Resist RTO ... slippery slope

Remember, if you return to office for 2 days, they'll ask you for 3.

Remember, if you return to office for 3 days, they'll ask you for 4.

And if you return to office for 4 days, they'll ask you for 5.

Maybe sick days happen more often on office days... I'd be sick of the drive if I was near an office. And office days are great days to volunteer - you're already in the city!

  1. It’s not company wide. It started 6-9 mo ago? with the Finance dept. Now it’s the CX BU.
  1. Most people weren’t in the office before the virus. It depended on where you were located when hired, i.e. near an office or not, & if near an office, did the team have space for you to have a desk. With 75% of the bldgs closed in RTP, it’s going to be very hard to make the people who were in the office before return as there won’t be seats.

Just start looking outside . Might as well get higher pay externally if cisco loses its only advantage which is wfh.

If your state doesn't have an office, how can you return to it?

13 years ago it was done with something called a "site realignment" where most had to go to their nearest site or move to one. Back then the average person only owned a house for closer to 5 years than the 12 today.

By that point the feral chimps had grown so used to isolation they were fundamentally incapable of interacting with each other effectively. Most didn't know how ineffective they were apart nor how ineffective they were when they sat silently in adjacent cubes making the same mistakes. A lot of projects suffered significantly as a result so another round of RTO without the necessary changes to substantially improve effective useful communication is just fiddling as the Titanic sinks.

OP should remember that the dirt running csco isn't asking you to return to office, they are telling you. This is something they can institute to save money eventually since people will quit or be fired. You already know the mentally deranged leadership will blame the current administration for doing this. Actually they did and allowed the same nonsense in the chat AND on the leader call prior. The managers all worried that the sky is falling and is csco still going to protect us - eff you. It's disgusting you mental cases are still employed and more disgusting csco still supports it.

I got laid off in September and will take your job if your not interested. Also @ any Federal employee who is not interested on RTO or 5 bullet points of weekly tracking 🤔

@ag+1jmwb7fr3, did you even read the other comments that were posted before you asked your question?

Does this apply to everyone or it’s up to your managers to decide?

It applies to people within 50 mi of some list of sites, basically the major hubs.

My whole team and even the teams I work with all work from states that don’t have an office

If your state doesn't have an office, how can you return to it?

JFC people.

Guidance was very vague on the call today. LC basically stated it’s up to the managers’ discretion at this point. This is for CX specifically, at least that is what was discussed on the call. Also 2 days RTO at this point, though it likely will increase.

I live 52 miles from the office, so I am not part of the RTO policy ?
How they calculate the distance ? Administrative Distance with a circle on a map ? Using a Shorten Path ? Which algorithm ? Do they take into consideration the quality of the links, the traffic ?

Not doing it. I've been a remote worker since 2017. I'll quit if I'm forced to go into a Cisco office. I'll happily go into a customer site to visit them - but wasting my time at a Cisco office is out of the question.

Minions get ready to bend over, wear out them tires, burn gas , ride elevator , smell the brownies lunch in the microwave, hear the over talk from loud i diots in cubicles, and hate every minute in the chair. Enjoy , dont worry Zoom and MS are doing it too, but not Arista, they actually care and pay well.
