Strange justifications for low merit increases

Has anyone noticed performance reviews contain oddly low scores being justified by things that are beyond our control or things that are just made up ie. counting system outages due to faulty equipment or other things not part of metrics. I know those tactics are likely ways to push people toward taking the buyout or quitting.

Solid 4s across the board. 1% increase. I mean seriously what is the incentive to continue working for a company that makes huge profits year over year, pays ivory tower folks in the 7-9 digit ranges but we are the ones doing the work to make them profitable? Part of me hopes for a layoff for myself so I can start my social security. Find a part time work from home job.

Received a solid 3 great comments. No raise stated we didn’t meet for client. I asked if everyone missed out on raise then. they said no

I was rated a 3 in a category they labeled "Quality, Getting it Right the First Time, Everytime", where they said they were happy with my work, but felt like I asked too many clarifying questions...

If the goal is "Quality, Getting it Right the First Time, Everytime", why am I being penalized for asking questions to ensure that is the case? Idk, the whole thing is gross. I keep flipping between feeling like my job is safe because of some of the things I am working on, and knowing I'm on my way out because my supervisor plainly does not like me and I do not trust her not to volunteer me as tribute if they start coming around asking for names to cut. My team has been completely demoralized by all of this, and I am afraid to ask too many questions at this point since that seems to be a no-no that I was unaware of. I hope all of you out there dealing with this are doing okay, cause I know mentally, I'm probably one more piece of bad news from being sent on a grippy sock vacation.

3 years with UHC, first year I got a 3, year after I got a 4, and this year finally a 5!! Only got a .57 raise which was 3%. Now facing the stress that I might not have a job in the next few months. I think I’m taking the buyout. Just for my sanity. I’m in Florida and the unemployment would be much less than the buyout.

Out of training I got my first review I got 2 3s and 2 4s and was a 3. I got a .37 raise. Last year I got 3 4s and a 5 and was a 4. I got a .56 raise. This year I got 2 4s and 2 5s and was still a 4 and got .36 raise.
WTF? Makes no sense......
Like a slap in your face

After getting 4/5s, this year with my new harassing director, I got a 2. No raise or bonus. Filed my second harassment complaint against him in 6 months… I know make less for a second year in a row. I pray I can find a new job as I wasn’t offered a buyout. I almost asked how do I get one?

1% as well. For the same performance score, I got 3% raise last year. My supervisor said they had less budget this year.

I had my review today and it was weird. It was the obligatory 3, which feels awful when you see it. Along with a poor review.
I compared it to my last 3 and you're right, this one was much less positive. The worst part was I got a 1% raise. It comes out to a quarter more an hour. In one week my raise is enough to...buy a carton of eggs. It feels like working my heart out and getting a 1 penny tip.
Disgusting.

Yes, I have and it’s odd. I was told that a score I have always received in the past was very hard to obtain but all of a sudden a lower score and not much money to give out . Weird off and they just need to come out and say what’s going on !!!!!
