Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Bedminster

Keep hearing this location is closing by the end of the year, but thats not what it looks like.

The building is over capacity and there are still groups that are not reporting 5 days.

They can’t send them to Dallas or Atlanta because they are out of capacity in those office as well.

So where exactly are these people going?

“T spreads out the surpluses to avoid the threshold as has been done now for several years and also forced moves to Middletown are not Warn issues.”

It’s 50 or more in 30 days you id--t. What are they going to do 50 a month? It would take centuries you dummy.

"Not seeing anything on NJWarn they would have to report something like this."

From what I understand, they got caught on that last year, which is why they extended the off-payroll date for some people to Feb 20th this year. (Probably had surplused the HR people who knew the laws) . Instead of paying the fine for late notice, they bumped the date. You can see AT&T / Bedminster on the 2024 NJ WARN document.

IMO, all these rumors about Bedminster closing this summer are just panic. Of course always leave room for the hail Mary, but ... I don't believe it. The building is leased till 2035.

In any case, if they were 'closing' end of August, they wouldn't have to post it until June.

Another scenario - they panicked last time when they bumped the date and have since researched the NJ law better... and now they don't care about posting or the fine.
Since the severance package for many is already greater than the NJ law requires, even adding in the fine, it doesn't change their bottom line.

I was told 2500 additional employees are reporting to Middletown as of next week.

Yep, the info I got said there are a bunch of people going 5-days to Middletown starting 3/3. May the odds be in your favor seat-seekers.

That mean, we are also at capacity. There is no room for Bedminster to report to Dallas, Atlanta, or Middletown, so try again.

All T employees in Bedminster should be applying to VZ.

HQ is right down the street, and only 8 days a month RTO (2x a week). Much better policy than T.

Adios Amigos!

The more you complain about the space the more likely you are to face layoffs or FTW letters in that location.

Congratulations OP. You’re one of the few out there that sees the big picture and sees right through the lies. The large scale operation is all about people and culture laundering. Announce a grandiose lie about building consolidations and relocation to hubs, and push the specifically targeted employees out the door.

When enough of them are gone, it’s business as usual and they will declare with a single email that they will resume 3 day RTO at all existing locations.
