Give me a break. Have you read through the posts here? We don’t even have a place to sit!!!!!!! No toilet paper! Layoffs? Ha! Every fckin week! Outsourcing? Ha! All day every day! 5 days in the office with reports that use bad data.
You have no clue how good you have it.
Be careful. Those of you who think Vz will be your happy place are delusional. I know as I work there. About the only good thing will be that many jobs are still hybrid at 2/week, but that could change in a heartbeat. We have fickle leadership. Pay and benefits are decent, 401k match is good. There aren't advancement opportunities. They outsource and offshore at the drop of a hat. There are RIFs pretty much every month. And you have the same BS over there as you guys have over here. If you just want a few years to ride into the sunset, it might be a good fit, otherwise, I'd advise against it as a career choice, if that's even a thing anymore.

Don’t forget that Verizon has had massive layoffs in the past. There is no “career” jobs these days. You can be cut from VZ just as easily as at T.
Stank doesn’t value employees beneath him so of course he doesn’t care. Lose one and another pops into its place. He doesn’t see us as assets or value or contributors. He sees us as mindless mouths to feed. He’s made that ever so clear.
So he’s going to get a good lesson of FAFO when all the experts are gone and our customers leave. That’s already started. But he won’t care. He won’t learn. He’s just a golden parachute away from the stain he’s left on this company,
VZ looking for employees from ATT. ATT says they simply don't care. Stinkey's attitude has been well known which is "if you don't like it here, leave." He's been very clear about that. It's tempting for some and sounds good, but then VZ mentions strong DEI programs which far outweighs the flexible work environment. It's "here is the carrot...BUT..." and they you stay away. Flexible work environment; DEI (hatred) programs. No thanks.

In this case "dynamic" and "challenging" seems right when you consider dynamic means changing because the employee turnover is constant and it is a challenge to educate the replacement quickly enough to be of use in the short term

BTW-- I know plenty of managers at VZ, and this is a "loose" requirement. They are not monitoring badge swipes, LAN time, phone use. They have not built extensive and flawed reporting that their VPs on up peruse daily, looking to bring the hammer down on someone that showed 6 hours for one day last month. Their employees don't feel compelled to take pics of themselves in front of a clock onsite, and send it to their Boss daily.
As someone who's been through this, let me tell you how it goes. The young, the well-educated, and the high performers will all leave. They have options. The barnacles, the layabouts, the noxious do-nothings will hang on for dear life. The result? An entire company staffed with indolent, cognitively inert, technologically illiterate pre-retirees. If you think AT&T is bad now -- just wait.

I love coming into the office only to sit on Teams video calls the majority of the day. I also love being able to join a meeting in a conference room that's disgusting and usually has some id--ts left over salad pieces on the table. All this is only if I can find a desk and parking that day. I live in North Dallas to. Nothing better than 8-5 and sitting on Central Expressway 1+ hours both ways five days a week.

Employees understand and begrudgingly respect the honest need for layoffs if the company goes about it normally. However, AT&T's constructive dismissal exercise targeting older employees is quite literally the most evil thing I have ever witnessed in my professional career. There is no comparison between these two companies.
Better company, better leadership, better product. Sounds like an easy decision.

I look at the V board and it is not nearly as active as T board. I have seen several posts on the V board referencing this board and saying they have it a lot better. V might be doing layoffs, but at least they are not creating the environment that makes you want to quit!
Problem for T is, they are taking your best and brightest, not the folks waiting to retire. And it’s not just Verizon. T Mo is also hiring and remote/hybrid. Guess which companies are beating T?
As has been stated, RTO was to eliminate headcount. Problem is, you are only getting rid of your better employees as they have options and can find new jobs. The rest would stay even if you did 7x12. Really d-mb move.
Make sure to check the VZ boards. They have just as many layoffs as T does.

Stinkey does not care. He is happy to unload his employees because it takes pressure off his inability to grow revenue. I am sure he will say in his next town hall, "don't go away mad, just go away . . . but I don't really care either way".

The rivalry between two of telecom's biggest players has taken a decidedly modern twist.
Verizon is seemingly looking to capitalize on rival AT&T's full-time RTO mandate by reaching out to AT&T employees who may not be keen on working five days a week in the office.
In an email sent to multiple AT&T employees obtained by Business Insider, Verizon's talent team encouraged recipients to explore the company's hybrid and remote job opportunities.
"Following the news of changing RTO policies across the industry, we're reaching out to share helpful resources and potential hybrid/remote job opportunities across Verizon," the email said.
"If you have been personally affected by organizational policy changes or know anyone who has, we're looking to add top talent to the V Team," the email continued. Verizon declined to comment.
While it's common for companies to recruit from their competitors, Verizon's outreach highlights how 5-day office mandates have become a sticking point for some workers in recent months.
AT&T told BI that its workers "always have a choice to pick the type of company and work environment they wish to be part of."
"We desire individuals who wish to work in a dynamic and challenging team environment with strong relationships and collaboration fostered by in-office constructs," AT&T added.
The recruiting message comes as AT&T has had to navigate a rocky return to office this year, with some employees describing to BI a lack of desk space, parking shortages, and shifting guidance about the policy.
As of Monday afternoon, Verizon's job listings website showed openings for more than 1,200 roles across the US, of which 10 were remote. Listings for several full-time positions require eight days in the office per month, as determined by a manager.
The Verizon email also references the company's support of DEI at a time when other large employers are backing away from the phrase.
"If you're looking for a culture of learning that fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion with room to grow, our V Team may be the place for you," the email said.
Verizon job perks include up to $8,000 of annual tuition assistance, up to 5 weeks of paid time off, paid parental leave, as well as medical, dental, and vision coverage, the email said.
While AT&T traces its origins to 1885, Verizon was formed in 2000 when one of the so-called Baby Bells — spun off from AT&T in the 1980s — merged with GTE.
More recently, the two have been in a race to build out the nation's fiber optic network and extend 5G and satellite coverage.
And although AT&T is now based in Dallas, its former New Jersey headquarters is now a major corporate campus for Verizon — not to be confused with Bell Labs in Holmdel, which features in Apple TV's "Severance."
