I know if 4 Directors who asked to be laid off and communicated it as they are retiring. Yet the peons ask for a package or volunteer and are told NO you can’t do that.
What’s up with this???

Who let the dawgs out?
The ignorance here constantly astounds....this practice isn't limited to Managers or Executives, it's actually a way of taking care of any employee who wants to retire. What better sendoff could you give than (many) months of free pay to ease into Retirement?
Nobody gets “laid off” above a certain level. They save executives the embarrassment. I love this naive outrage.
Happens for non managers as well. If someone has shared with their manager they're thinking of retirement, rather than displacing someone else, displace the person who's going to retire anyway. Not everyone wants to be displaced.
There you have it managers take care of their own.
That's been going on for years. Most of the time they are asked to retire. They get to go out on a better note and they get a nice package
Severance for their retirement for them ... but not for you. Life isn't fair ... is it?
