Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Dealing with incompetent coworkers

I don't think of myself as the best employee, but it surprises me how quickly this has become a place of mediocrity. There are still excellent employees here, but I would say that only 10% of employees are very competent, 50% barely meet acceptable standards, and 30% should not be employed in the positions they are in.
Sometimes I wonder how these mediocrities manage to get the work done?

Once again, the point is that all the issues and struggles employees are talking about here can all be tied directly to incompetent, dishonest and unqualified management.

It’s not always the case where BofA is just hiring unqualified candidates. There are many qualified employees who are starting here, but are not receiving sufficient training or guidance to help them get started. It seems many managers and/or seasoned employees with experience aren’t taking enough initiative to properly onboard in some cases. Every situation is unique.

You can terminate someone here, you do have to follow the path to do that. The issue is if you are deemed a “favorite” then you get a slap on the wrist. Or if you are of a “diverse background” yiu have nothing to worry about.
There is too much shady stuff being done by incompetence. But the bank claims to be diverse so I guess it’s allowed.

It’s also impossible to fire someone no matter how much ‘evidence’ you have.

This company is hiring just about anyone with a heart beat. I mean I have witnessed some very unqualified mofos that have come through the door recently. This company is not selective anymore in the hiring process. I have seen with my own eyes people who were hired on the Merrill side with shoplifting charges and bankruptcy on their Finra report or something. A colleague showed me recently and anyone can look it up . This is and absolute disgrace for this company to have someone on staff with this on their record.

When you are dealing with well educated or well qualified leaders you will enjoy your job more. I have experienced this at my past job. We currently have a bunch of unqualified id--ts running around in an empty suit and think they are the shlit. Many of them can barely speak English and have the audacity to hold conference calls. This company is one big shlit show.

Well it was full of unqualified people decades ago, then My Work happened and the bank had attracted some brilliant talent after some years of that program. The number of qualified applicants applying for a position allowed us to be highly selective back then.

"We're better when we're connected" is a ridiculous slogan, but "Why be great when barely good enough is still good enough?" was declined as giving away company secrets.

I am so used to dealing with sharp, well educated people from my other jobs before I got to Bank of America. This place is a total disaster. We have leaders that have no business being in their position. I feel so miserable when you have to report to someone that you are more qualified than. This company has really went down the toilet.

The limited talent pool available makes it easy for an average worker to be a super star and someone that does not do anything be considered an average employee here
