Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Rumor has it that Boeing will try and renegotiate its IAM labor contract early next year. Better save your money you could be on strike!

That is the truth and nothing but the truth. It’s that way all over the place and always has been! Crazy way to run a business.

@1fmc+1jnsHvDX Don't know what shop you work in. In my shop the only thing that matters is who you know and who likes you. I go in and get my job done and mind my own business and these 40 and 50 year old children think I have a problem because I don't subscribe to their B.S. nor do I try to me in some clique. Performance should matter bur you know good and well the only thing that matters is your popularity level. Any id--t can come in and defend you if your are good or bad. As long as you are in the crowd in the "well liked" group you are held in better regards for better or worse than someone who just comes in and does their job.

I was never represented by a union working for the Boeing company. I see nothing wrong with getting rid of seniority and retention ratings. Performance is what should matter. Hopefully, it will. I know many engineers at Boeing who were never laid off and work in Puget Sound - they performed. Going on strike will trigger RIFs among union workers and even heavier statement of work transfer to other states. Use company resources - get training, get education -- grow!!! and you will be fine even with layoffs.

Probably want more union concessions. Where seniority doesn’t protect you from layoffs or guarantee you a retention rating. The same concessions SPEEA made, and then they started laying off The older engineers. Going after the highest wage earners.

They IAM need to forget about money and tell Boeing they want a board of directors seat at the table. The Engineering Union SPEAA needs to make the same demand.
