Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

Post L3Harris RIF

To all affected by this let me say that if you have been there for some time and have not been on the job market for a while, you will be surprised to see that there are plenty of opportunities out there. I am seeing a 25% increase in starting salaries being thrown at me in only 3 days of being let go compared to what L3Harris is keeping their employees at. If you are worried about working for new managers, don't be. If you survived L3Harris management you will be absolutely OK.

In clifton, out of sheer desperation to fill lower tier engineering positions, the company dangled a 3% above union scale pay raise to lure union members into management. And some of the d-mber ones took the bait. Their egos surpassed their common sense. But now, they're honorary titles are worth nothing outside the company. Without an actual degree, whatever L3 Harris called you means nothing. So, by your own actions, you are stuck there with no place to go unless you take a cut and pay. Some of those smart as--s were laid off last april. Their Union counterparts still have their jobs. Nice move id--ts. The fun part is going to be watching you try and get a job elsewhere with a phony engineering job title. We all wish we could be a fly on the wall to watch that perspective employer laugh at you as you walk out the door.

I hope DOGE persuades the defence department to dump this company. They are a waste of taxpayers money, and a waste of your time.

The aforementioned methodology was employed at Clifton a few years ago and drove out most of the talent. Any company that engages in such a ridiculous practice on its employees should not be a prime contractor and L3 Harris never will be. This company needs to be ostracized from any future government contracts, should be broken into pieces and cease to exist.

They also replace my locking metal tool box with a plastic one with no lock. (I was not allowed to lock it.) This was so they could inspect my tool box to make sure I wasn't using unauthorized tools.

This has my vote for stoopidest management tactic of the month and a strong candidate for the annual award

I was an EMA. After the last merger, some je----f from Melbourne shows up and tells me "You don't need all of these tools". Then he tells me "Your skill set is over-rated and you're over-paid". Then he and some gutless minions locked my tools away in a storage closet and replaced them with a small set of tools that they said were all I needed. They also replace my locking metal tool box with a plastic one with no lock. (I was not allowed to lock it.) This was so they could inspect my tool box to make sure I wasn't using unauthorized tools.
Next, they brought in some of the most under-educated people any of us had ever seen and told us to train them. Most of them quit within a few weeks.
Of course, production, quality and on-time deliveries went down the drain. Most of the senior leadership left.
I also decided after 20 years to leave the company. And no, I was not over-paid. I got a new job in less than a week. And within a few short months of proving myself, my pay had surpassed what I was making by about 12%. Oh and I didn't leave empty handed either. I got my tool box and my tools back and wheeled them out to my car the day I left. I use them along with my skill set to the advantage of my career and a competitor.
No rearview mirror here. Just gloating over my wise decision.
L3Harris, or what ever it's going to call itself, can burn to the phukin ground.

It ended up being a blessing in disguise for a lot of us. Better off and more appreciated now. Too bad it's not the rats getting run off that sinking ship

Just checking-in (laid off April 11, 2024)… 3 1/2 months of being out of work but survived. Hired in the same in-demand field, working mostly remote (near the beach) with a good pay increase. These layoffs will continue. If you are just starting out or really need to pay your bills. I can see why you are here - there are much better places period! You come 1st. L3H is just a wannabe-prime dysfunctional apparatus that will sp-t you out. The very best to those affected. You will rise again.

Correct. The battle scars you got from working at this dysfunctional organization will serve you well when you bring your talents to a competitor who knows the value of its' employees. You will be more savvy, more experienced and less likely to feel trapped.

The layoff was not your fault.
You have value.
