Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

RS ITFP townhall

It seemed like RS didn’t care at all, knowing he was retiring anyways.. or more likely forced to retire..

There were at least some groups that had the orange circle for India and the Houston circle empty on RS’s slides. I don’t want to say which one I’m in and risk getting doxxed or something but I’m in ITFP

I too know someone who decided to AEOI after that town hall. They were on the fence before but those circles showing everything in our group going to India made the decision easier. I was tempted myself but decided I might as well try to get a couple more months pay first and then put in for one job and EOI.

Hopefully DF leaves as well. He’s a real piece of work.

Half of network is moving overseas but WE is pretty much staying put. Why haven’t we outsourced desktop like all other companies. LT doesn’t know how to make a good decision.

LC is going to be that fall guy, but MN is really the one who is responsible for this direction

2 of the people in my team AEOI'd after the the townhall and one of them told me for the people that are selected for jobs it will be very challenging to get anything accomplished because many of the SME's will be gone. I agree with them, for those that are not selected will be without jobs and for those that are selected to stay, the work load will be horrible. It took 2 years to get the ITFP stable after the last transformation in 2020 and it will be worse this time.

This layoff is brutal, a lot of product teams are moving to low cost geographies. It’s 100% for some product teams, not 15-20% as they have previously deceived us…

If you are offered a transitional role to support the implementation of the ENGINE the employees will have time to look for new jobs outside Chevron during the extra time. The benefit to Chevron will be they will pay less in severance because people will leave their positions before the last day of the transitional position. Either way Chevron wins, it's a cr-ppy way to treat your employees that have been with the company for years.

Yeah, that was as sh---y as it gets. Why the he-l did they keep this guy around until mid-year just to mess things up even more? He’s not going to own any part of this failure — so, of course, he couldn’t care less.

It was a sh.t show. He could care less what happens after he leaves. Plus more than half his org is moving to Engine. Not sure how that's going to happen before July 1. Some are saying that it will take time but most of us will know our futures by then. If you get a transitional role and you didn't EOI, how motivated will you be to train your replacements. I just can't imagine Engine having POs/tech leads that will interface with the business in the US since most of them will not be working US hrs. I'm not saying Engine will fail but moving more than half your existing org there is not the right solution either.

Plus the streaming quality su-ked and he had no answers to the questions asked. But at least he is doing a great service by retiring. More of this cream of top should stop being selfish and retire or raise their hand.
