Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

I’ve been lucky so far

Too lucky, perhaps. My guess is that my luck will run out this time, especially with almost all of us at fiber now at high risk of being laid off. Oh well... I can’t say it would be the worst thing that ever happened to me, but the state of the job market does make me a bit nervous. In any case, best of luck to everyone.

The lucky ones were let go with a severance years ago…

Like Mark said..."If you wanna run cool it takes heavy heavy fuel." Guess JBaby ran the tank dry and now we're going "into the great wide open, a CEO (rebel) without a clue". Thanks to Tom Petty and Mark Knopfler for the music and the analogy.

@cm+1jp9051wd That means you can get severance from Crown while fiber is still with Crown, not EQT/Zayo/DigitalBridge.

Crown can still offer severance, but Zayo can opt out of severance pay after assets are fully transferred. This means if you are retained by Zayo, you can be laid off after being retained without severance.

Two things struck me about the CCI call. The belief that macro towers are the future for densification in urban areas. Haven't seen many new towers in urban markets. It would seem to me that rooftops(still have to pay rent for the RT)and small cells would be the play. Number 2 that capital will be spent on buying the land that the existing towers are leasing. Seems to me if the landlords are ja--ing the price up on the expiring leases, what stops them from ja--ing
up the cost of buying the land that tower and row are already on. In that case the LL would still
hold the high hand and charge more knowing the price to tear down and relocate would be time consuming, expensive and disruptive to both crown and their clients.

But but but they said on the faq page that we would get severance if not given the opportunity to work for Zayo or EQT

ZAYO doesn’t do “packages”. The deal is agreed to. They run lean and mean. ZERO chance anyone remaining gets anything when they are let go. Those in Enterprise Fiber are literally Dead Men Walking. The essence of the earnings call was: Good riddance Fiber. Tower, Tower, Tower, and Tower.
