Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

In case you didn't believe they'll fire you for noncompliance...

Some guy got canned for not RTO (sounded like he was maybe still doing 3 days instead of 5). Before they could deactivate him, he was posting all over Teams ranting non-stop.

So.....your boss was like Paulie? He sanctioned your telecommuting, then turned his back when you were caught. I assume you only had a verbal approval. Thas not good news for you. Face it, your days of being employed at at&t are done. I feel that you received just as much warning as everyone else. You don't even qualify for severance, a pro-rated 2025 bonus, and most likely will be denied unemployment.

This is so unfair, at least warn us before taking drastic action. There is no integrity left at this company, NONE.

Your salary is also more expensive than a college grad.

During the last reorg, our DPLs got moved into the same job descriptions and the SAME money as people who've been there more than 20 years. Supposedly, it was all supposed to shake out after a year or two of YTR adjustments

I also forgot to mention, you will likely still end up be placed on a do not rehire list even if you were let go without cause. It's becoming an industry standard to shuffle people out, because the reality is they don't want you back.

They've backstabbed you once. You're going to start questioning things, and that makes you a dangerous liability. Your salary is also more expensive than a college grad.

Yeah, you don't get your sn-t-stained napkin of payments for X weeks, but at the end of the day, you're not losing out much by being let go for cause, because there was never a plan to rehire you from the beginning.

" I hope it was one of the posters here always bragging about still coffee badging or how they never rto'd, and never got caught..."

Oh-- I guarantee it was one of the "my boss is aware and has no issues with it" crowd.

100% guaranteed. Because the Boss probably 'was" perfectly cool with it until HR came knocking...and I don't know why people seem to not want to understand this, but your Boss has no say in any of this whatsoever. They cannot protect you.

Terminated = no severance

You have to understand something. Severance is a hush money payment made out to you entirely for the benefit of the company. Accepting severance means you have to sign an agreement not to sue or disparage the company.

At the rate things are falling apart, you might actually want to retain your right to sue them.

Additionally, if you've also been paying attention to the happenings surrounding Careless People, the only reason Meta was able to go to an arbitrator was specifically because of a signature on a severance package.

These terminations should have happened before the annual bonus was paid out.

An employee decision to forego 5x8 indicates resignation.

" My boss knew I was telecommuting the whole time and made no effort to forewarn me."

THIS IS NOT MADE UP.

This should grab the attention of all of you who in various posts over the last week have shared your "special" situation.

"I don't have to do 5 days in the office", ..."my Boss knows about this and is fine with it", etc. etc.

This is what is going to happen.

And it's not that the boss made no effort to forewarn, etc. Wouldn't matter. There is nothing he could have done. They have zero authority or input in any of it.

So beware of your "special" deal that your Boss is "cool" with.

If you want/ need to stick around, you just need to comply and wait for this nonsense to wane. Which it eventually will.

Just like in the movie Goodfellas. I was released from T today for non-compliance with RTO. My boss knew I was telecommuting the whole time and made no effort to forewarn me. I asked him about it today, his only reply, "now I've got to turn my back"!
Can you even believe this? I feel like I was setup.

I took a chance, I honestly thought they were bluffing. I was a high rated performer, I did not believe RTO applied to me. They could never let me go, I am special. Now here I am on the outside looking in!

It’s not that hard. They have zero reason to get upset . They put in all their chips thinking it was a bluff and they lost the hand. Zero sympathy .

should sue them.... yes, I know people will say they can set the rules but CSO is giving so many exemptions to people not in hubs allowing them to work fulltime from home and others near hubs that are still on the 1x/month, that this person can probably win with a discrimination lawsuit.
