5x8=40.
No, commuting time doesn't count.
Figure out your appointments on your own time or use PTO.
Figure out how to get your kids to and from daycare/school AND report to the office in a timely manner.

Many functioning adults can complete these tasks and work 5x8 in the office. You are not special. Your situation is not different. It just takes a little effort. You can do it. Stop whining. Stop expecting your employer to bend over backwards for you."

While your points are valid, it's a good thing no one has to do that since we have a flexible policy and no minimum hours or days required.

Target dropped DEI goals and ended programs to boost black suppliers.

Dell’s language has changed around diversity.

Actually you’re wrong about discrimination laws, no more DEI programs. Employers are now free to discriminate as they see fit.

President Trump’s executive orders have rescinded previous mandates requiring affirmative action and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs among federal contractors, such as the revocation of Executive Order 11246. These changes have led to reduced enforcement of certain anti-discrimination measures.

Texas is an at-will employment state, meaning employers can terminate employees at any time and for any reason, or no reason at all, as long as it doesn’t violate federal or state anti-discrimination laws or contractual agreements. There are no specific labor laws providing additional job protections beyond these basic guidelines.

If you need to use some of your weekend time to get your work done, please do the needful.

So let me get this straight. You are complaining that you need to work 40 hours a week?

Put your big boy pants on and be an adult

That’s odd I’ve been hearing 3 days a week beginning in June once the “I’m leaving when my bonus arrives” crowd leaves the company.

I heard it’s not until June 1st

I heard effective "beginning of May". May 5th makes sense, right at the start or the new qtr.

Ha, if they do that, they can kiss goodbye to their global teams cooperation. I'm gonna be staying in for 8h a day and not a minute longer, with my laptop placed in the office locker overnight. I won't care about early/late meetings as thus mandate will be , in effect, an active prohibition to work from home.

"they do not need to track someone physically, all they have to do is look at the reports of who and what laptops are logged in and out of the local vpn."

I spend most of my time in face to face meetings and some days never get online. How do you propose they do that across the thousands of others who do the same?

Never happen.

Enforcement would require micromanaging to the fullest extent possible. Do managers really want to feel powerful while tracking their direct reports every move? Some will get off on it. Many would find it exhausting. Most simply will not do it.

Impossible to administer, enforce or govern given the flexibility being allowed per policy during a given workday.

"Now back to 8 hours. Who gives a fu-k? Just let us all enjoy what little we can at this place without constant fretting."

Why are you on a layoffs site so

Just stop with all the speculation. It’s just driving unnecessary anxiety. We know things will continue getting worse until we listen and self-WFR. They will hit their numbers at no cost to them. And with Trump at the helm and no enforcement of labor laws they’ll probably just lay us all off soon without no severance and call it a day. Remember the 2 months isn’t severance, it’s a legal requirement like a fine for not giving a public announcement when layoffs exceed certain percentages. They’ll skip it and gamble they can avoid the fines.

Now back to 8 hours. Who gives a fu-k? Just let us all enjoy what little we can at this place without constant fretting.

Yes. Depends how hard your leader tows the company line.
all will be made to tow at least 50%. Some managers/leaders will push it to 110%

but keep in mind dell management are not an impressive group so they will eventually capitulate

Some sites are moving people to a partial onsite schedule and shared desks. The onsite will be driven by the local leaders and managers. I doubt there will be blanket rules. Just guidance.
