Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

So, how many people actually took AEOI?

Not that a high percentage would make much of a difference when the reorg kicks off. But I can still secretly hope that there are enough people in my department to increase the chances I’ll be overlooked. I need this job so badly right now. The job market is terrible, and I’m at that stage in life where, for all kinds of reasons, I can’t afford to be jobless or dedicate much time and energy to a job search. I just hope I can survive here until I have more room to maneuver.

Less than half I know that requested AEOI (around 10) were doing so because of retirement or job elimination. Most of the others I would describe as mid-career, valuable/good contributors that can probably find another job pretty easily. I get the feeling some people had to come to terms with not requesting AEOI because they would have difficulty finding another job with similar pay doing low value or mediocre work.

The AEOI was I believe meant to draw the 26 upwards PSGs , retirement age, sick, geographically challenged, those who already on the black book , and those who know their role being gone and had it.

This about transferring labour costs to cheap and cheerful low cost base countries. No matter how many people take an AEOI, roles will be moved.

@f1+1jpk7hp1q I think alot of people who might have taken the AEOI figured why not get paid for another 2 months and apply to 1 job during selection and get the severance package then. If cuts are as deep as expected it’s a reasonable strategy

Irrelevant. The 15 to 20 number is above an estimated attrition and AEOI

8 that I know in SR and some are mid-career, so I guess Houston is not that enticing.

A lot of people are all talk. When it came to actual take a package….they chickened out!!!!

Likely the folks who live WAY ABOVE their means.

Per the Manufacturer town hall , roughly 10% of the eligible employees across enterprise opted in for AEOI

It is finally my turn to take the AEOI. Seeing how Andy blows it out both ends and doesn't have the final organization chart. He wants to retain the brightest and best yet is pushing positions 1 - 2 PSG lower in addition to bringing back forced ranking.

Yes another F...ked change by incompetent leadership

The whole point of AEOI was an out if you expected your role to be out of scope.

I know of four. It would have been five, but one guy was told his job wasn't in scope. (He will probably retire anyway.) This is out of a facility with 2,000 or so employees, about half of whom aren't hourly out-of-scope workers.

I'm personally aware of 5 people in my extended group that requested AEOI.
BTW, they're all in Houston.

I don't think enough people will have taken the AEOI to have saved too many positions for the common person. The openings will be used for the LT that have their positions eliminated. I have seen an org chart indicating there will be less 1st and 2nd level managers, so those people will be moved into the individual contributor roles that are available. Culling the herd at the lower PSG's will happen....
