PIP for Supervisors

It would be amazing if after the PIPs are decided this year, the Supervisors with the most PIP’d direct reports got PIP’d for providing poor leadership!

Also, if any Supervisors found to have PIP’d truly productive employees for personal or political reasons, automatic PIP award for themselves.

This thread is a joke. What happens if every supervisor behaves as your hero supervisor? If a supervisor acts as described above all they are doing is making other supervisors pip more of their people. I’ve seen protected hipo supervisors get away with it because they didn’t want to have to do the dirty work.

The only supervisors forced out were the ones that went against the management. One protected the pipees and did not pip anyone that year. He covered for the mistakes the pipees made and took the blame. This stand up supervisor was forced to retire the next year.
Another great supervisor ran his division tough and everyone was a high performer. He was told he had to pick the lowest 10 % and pip them. He told the managers no one in his group was a low performer and not deserving of pip. That year he did not pip anyone. The next year he tried to do the same thing and not pip anyone. He was immediately fired and replaced with a hatchet man. This yes man had no idea of the relative performance of the group and asked the operations personnel who was the least liked or favorited of the group. This new supervisor based hid piping on no facts just rumors and behind the back talk.
If a supervisor does not comply with the pip percentage they can be fired. So who do you think they are going to pick you or them. There is no hope for fairness. Good luck to all the players in this rigged game.

I wish this was the case but the supervisors are there to cut and deliver the pips. The supervisors and managers collect evidence and try to force you out. They say they care about your career and it would be you best choice to retire. They must all follow a script because I along with the other REs hear the same old story. The story goes you are dropping relative to your peers, you cannot compete with the young because of pay and CL, when are you planning on retiring, and retiring would be the best option for you. Exxon loves their supervisors because they do the dirty work for the evil management. This sick cycle will continue for years to come because exxon does not want change. Exxon is doomed to be staffed by employees that only know how to kis a ss and do no real work. Of course they can ship all of the real work to india and just manage the indians. This may be the ultimate plan unfortunately. Exxon cannot and does not want to be fixed and will continue to slide down the abyss.
