Get ready for a lot of offshore outsourcing

Lots of folks in IT got riffed and now a lot of people still there will get the joy of working with some sh---y offshore outsource folks. Very typical of companies to pull this type of idiocy. Fire people and outsource abroad, spend a few years with the massive headache and everyone complaining that the offshore peeps are terrible, increase budget and have a hiring bonanza then rinse and repeat.

This is coming from a phone jockey so take it with a grain salt but honestly how much more can they outsource before nothing works? My systems go down every day multiple in the middle of calls with customers. We have multiple slack chats with IT folks in India that flat out ignore issues or just lie and say its fixed and advise to clear cookies all day. At some point this house of cards will fall and honestly I don’t want to be here when it does.

That almost sounds unamerican! I don't see anyway Han's can justify offshoring of VZ jobs

Liberal mindset is the constant complaints from people as if the company owes them something, then crying when they don't get it.

the 20 years that VZ has been off-shoring, and has only to do with money, nothing more or less. there are no implied efficiencies - it's a pure numbers game, you can get 3 people off shore every 1 in the states. When it comes to budget over runs, it's not 'where are the overruns' or 'what do we stop doing', but 'what can we off-shore'....

Would love to know what areas in IT were hit this time. And if the jobs were outsourced, to what vendor?

Do you know what IT organizations were hit? I'm in an organization that was moved to VGS under Silliman as well and we've literally heard nothing about anybody close to us being hit with layoffs yet

You're spot on. It's the whole reason for the new Silliman organization, to be the hub for all of the vendors who will take over the majority of our jobs. VZ will continue to have fewer and fewer of their own employees.

TMO has 75 k employees, that is the level Silliman is driving towards with 100k VZ employees the first milestone. Get your dignity hats on.
