Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The next layoff should target the LLx numbers...

Amazon in the last quarter of 2024, set a goal to increase the ratio of individual contributors to managers by 15% across the organization, looking to reinforce the culture of ownership. FMC is set to avoid accountability, thus increasing the ratio of managers vs contributors. The more layoffs we have at Ford, the more management heavy we are, and the ship is toppling sideways with that extra weight. It is past time to flatten our organization.

Stop laying off contributors and stop bringing more clueless managers/professional job hoppers from industries no related to vehicle manufacturing. Ford is already a big mess because of this, and there is such a huge load of pending work, that we cannot meet deadlines with quality results.

Managers just keep increasing our workloads with stoopid sh!t, half of it are just projects that are scrapped later on because the C-suite changed their minds (again). So the employees are burned out, no enthusiasm in doing their tasks because we know it will get dumped aside later on, and most people are just checked out, because nothing makes sense anymore.

The most important task these days is complying with the badge count (rto) and managers are just reminding us about meeting the numbers before the end of quarter. Hardly any interest in our projects or any other deliverable. I've never seen before this level of CYA and office politics at Ford. SMH.

RE: Managers just keep increasing our workloads with stupid sh!t, half of it are just projects . . .

All those words and not one mention of JIRA?

This has single handedly brought my department to a stand-still !

Maybe Doug will brag about that in the town hall meeting he keeps bringing up! Progress!

Jim Farley allowed a culture of “fake progress” reporting, where teams feed executives misleading metrics to hide real problems. Especially in Doug Field’s EV Division. Reporting without questioning is normalized. Individual contribution isn’t credited because they fear they’ll take their spot. That’s why the key players that can help this company are undermined by their managers. Good message OP

All the LL5 and LL3s should go

The only round of layoffs should be for the executive level. The staff is working night and day to deliver, the lower level managers are juggling multiple teams and people.

It’s time to stop demanding layoffs if anyone but JF, DF, MJ, and a few others.

Don’t use the word “arrogant”. For future caution… that word is reserved for use by LL6+ and can only be directed towards their direct subordinates. Read the PowerPoint for clarity.

Thanks

I wouldn't have Supervisors, LL6's, LL5's + run a McDonald's yet Ford promotes the same lazy, arrogant ... Not all but at least half.

The LLs could be cut by at least half.
Two thirds of the Board of Directors and “Executive Leadership“ should also be cut.
Immediate improvement in financial results.
